The Bitter-Sweet Experience with one Lettering Job

Dimitris Drakatos, the art director of Spot Thompson Ad Agency, called to brief me on this job and sent me this. The client asked him to try hand lettering instead of these script fonts. It should look as if a passenger wrote the message on the poster...

...so I started with pencil sketches...

... and ink roughs...

...other ink roughs...

...But when I roughly positioned it on the poster I did not like the result....

...I got an idea to try making letters with sugar, since it is the SWEET experience...

...testing it on the image, the result was not so sweet.

So I decided to ignore the brief and try something like this…

…or this…

…and I came to this letters…

And when I positioned it on the image I let the descender of g travel around the globe…but the client saw it and said that the letters are not readable!

And the client choose this!

And I choose this for my portfolio!
The image of the globe is not the final one, I am showing here MY LETTERING ONLY!

Here is it with the final image:
 And here are the letters.
